Market Deeping Town Council – Amenities and Open Spaces Committee
Minutes of a meeting held on Wednesday 9th July 2025 at 06.45 pm held in the Town Hall Chambers, Market Deeping.
Cllr Broughton presided over Cllr Mrs D Jones, Cllr Dick Hughes, Cllr Mrs Jean Sked, Cllr Paul Hanson, Cllr Jayne Reed, also present was the Clerk.
16. Chairman’s Welcome and Introductions
Cllr. Broughton welcomed members to the meeting.
17. To note apologies and accept valid reason for Absence
Apologies for Absence were accepted for Cllr Xan Collins.
18. Declarations of Interest under the Localism Act 2011
There were no Declarations of Interest.
19. Minutes of a previous AOS meeting held on the 14th May 2025
It was RESOLVED unanimously to accept the minutes of the meeting as a true and accurate record of the meeting. The Chairman signed the minutes.
20. Clerk’s report and update on work of the Park-Keepers
Members had received a copy of the report prior to the meeting.

John Eve field
• Replacement grass cutting tractor delivered May 2025
• Green carpet vandalism, added in as an additional request was for the supplier to assess the deterioration of surfaces in the wet pour area. Supplier visited in May 2025 and we are currently awaiting an updated quote for these works. It is intended that both these areas of work will take place on the same visit. Currently waiting for revised quote and date of remedial work yet to be confirmed
• Another dog bin has been installed junction The Spinney/Orchard, and two replacement liners have been purchased, and these will be inserted into the existing dog bins following current liners deteriorating located on the John Eve Field and Tattershall Road areas
• Additional ‘Please Shut This Gate’ signage has been installed in the small play children’s area
• Following the recent Arb. Report a number of trees across John Eve & Glebe Fields, The Spinney and Cemetery have been identified for remedial work, this remains on-going
Town Centre
• Hanging baskets were installed in the Town in May 2025
Clerk’s report
• Annual review of Risk Assessments has commenced and remains on-going
Cherry Tree Park
• Initial assessment of the existing children’s play equipment has been undertaken, and it is noted that the existing children’s swings need replacing
Charter Avenue Children’s Play Area
• Initial assessment of the existing children’s play equipment has been undertaken, and it is noted that repairs are desperately needed to certain play pieces and a supplier has visited the site to quote for remedial work
Charter Avenue Allotments
• A site visit has been conducted by the Chairman and Clerk and on assessing the measurements for the site, the number of allotment plots has increased. Work has begun to map these plots out. Further work will be required to reach a ‘Set-Up’ stage before agreeing next steps

2. Local Resident 19/6/25 In person visit – Request for Council to consider;
1. Planting an Oak tree on Riverside Park to honour the 80th anniversary of V.E & V.J Day Committee members wish to thank the Local Resident for submitting their idea, and also advised that a soil test has been previously conducted on Riverside Park, whereby it was found that this area is not suitable for the growing of Oak trees
3. Local Resident 8/7/25 Email – Request to meet a councillor to discuss various items regarding Cemetery Drive Members discussed and have agreed to meet with the Local Resident, after the summer recess
4. Supplier of play equipment and repairs 9/7/25 Email – Quotes for repairs and some new equipment.

Members discussed and RESOLVED unanimously to accept the costs, with Area 1 and 2 given priority as Area 3 is currently going through a legal process to transfer ownership
22. Omega
The Omega report had been circulated ahead of the meeting. The Chairman asked members if they had any questions, there were none.
23. New Defib/Bleed kit housing cabinet required – for members to discuss and agree costs
Members discussed and RESOLVED unanimously for the purchase of a Defib/Bleed kit housing cabinet.
24. New cordless hedge trimmer/pruner – for members to discuss and agree costs
Members discussed and instructed the Clerk to obtain two further quotes to compare prices
25. For members to consider and discuss any points raised in the Open session
