Market Deeping Town Council – Amenities and Open Spaces Committee
Minutes of a meeting held on Wednesday 14th May 2025 at 06.45 pm held in the Town Hall Chambers, Market Deeping.  Cllr Broughton presided over Cllr Mrs D Jones, Cllr Dick Hughes, Cllr Mrs Jean Sked, Cllr Paul Hanson, also present was the Clerk.  
 
01.  Chairman’s Welcome and Introductions
Cllr. Broughton welcomed members to the meeting.
02.  To note apologies and accept valid reason for Absence
It was RESOLVED unanimously to accept Apologies for Absence from Cllr Jayne Reed, Cllr Xan Collins and Cllr Pam Steel.
 
03.   Declarations of Interest under the Localism Act 2011 
There were no Declarations of Interest. 
 
04.  Minutes of a previous AOS meeting held on the 12th March 2025
It was RESOLVED unanimously to accept the minutes of the meeting as a true and accurate record of the meeting.  The Chairman signed the minutes.   
 
05.  Clerk’s report and update on work of the Park-Keepers
Members had received a copy of the report prior to the meeting.

John Eve field

  • Work in progress regarding the re-shaping of Rowan and Cherry Trees on Glebe Field
  • Trees located close to a resident’s property to be trimmed and re-shaped, subject to cost approval – see agenda
  • Deadwood has been removed from 15 trees that had been previously been identified in the John Eve/Glebe Park and New Cemetery, along with dead-wooding of the large Oak, located in the Cemetery
  • Re-surfacing of the Oak Grove/Cemetery path has been completed

Town Centre

  • Town Planter (sponsorship ends June 2025)

Clerk’s report

  •  Work in progress continues to arrange an event to celebrate our Volunteers in the Deepings, and the theme will be V.E Day (8th May 2025)
  • All Council owned Defibs are now registered on The Circuit network
  • Application Form and face to face meeting has been held with a local charity regarding a community event planned for early August on the Glebe/John Eve Field
  • Green Carpet – Vandalism/correction/repair, costs have been received
  • Button seat (replacement) has been received and installed
  • Hanging baskets have been ordered

Cherry Tree Park

Volunteers continue to do an amazing job of looking after Cherry Tree Park, and a request has been received for £200 worth of plants to enhance the area, they are looking to plant begonia’s, petunia’s etc

07.  Omega
The Omega report had been circulated ahead of the meeting.  The Chairman asked members if they had any questions, there were none.
 
08.  Cherry Tree Park – Update
South Kesteven District Council have advised that they are at the next stage of liaising with relevant parties regarding the legal transfer, remains on-going. 
 
09. Annual review of field rent
Members discussed and RESOLVED unanimously not to increase field rent this year.
 
10. Goal posts on John Eve Field and filling in dips in the field, to agree the next steps.
Members agreed to move this agenda item over to the Winter Works Schedule. 
 
11. Green carpet – Vandalism John Eve Field.  Quote received £1,158.00 to fix damage and repair.  Members to discuss.
Members discussed and RESOLVED unanimously to accept the quote, and instructed the Clerk to request that the supplier also addresses the deterioration – Wet pour area, to replace with Green Grass.
 
12.  Deterioration – Wet pour area
Recorded under item 11.
 
13. Quotation – For work to be carried out on the Glebe Park near the Spinney; side up 1 tree, reduce limbs, reduce another tree by one third and removal of smaller tree near Oak Grove side.  Quote received £660.
Members discussed and RESOLVED unanimously to accept the quote.
 
14. For members to consider and discuss any points raised in the Open Session.
There were none.
 
15. To consider items for inclusion on the agenda for the next meeting of Amenities and Open Spaces Committee, to be held in the Town Hall Chambers on Wednesday 16th July 2025 at 6.45pm, meet on the John Eve Field.
