TOWN HALL AND CEMETERY COMMITTEE
Minutes of the meeting of Market Deeping Town Council’s Town Hall and Cemetery Committee held on Wednesday 6 March 2024 at 6.15 pm at the Town Hall, Market Deeping.
Cllr Miss Collins presided over Cllr Broughton, Mrs Jones, Cllr Ms Reed, Cllr Shelton and Cllr Sked. The Deputy Clerk was also in attendance.
73. Chair’s Welcome
Cllr Miss Collins welcomed members to the meeting.
74. Apologies for absence
There were no apologies for absence.
75. To receive declarations of interest under the Localism Act 2011
There were no declarations of interest.
76. Minutes from the meeting held on Wednesday 6th March 2024
It was RESOLVED unanimously to accept the minutes of the previous meeting as a true and accurate record. The Chair signed the minutes.
Cllr Mrs Sked arrived at 6.18 pm.

It was RESOLVED unanimously to purchase a new lawn mower. |
Town Hall
• Fire extinguishers had been inspected on 27 February at the Town Hall and Park-keepers shed, there were no issues.
78. Update on work activity taking place in the cemeteries (old & new)
• General maintenance continues in the cemetery.
• Eleven graves have been topped up with soil and grass seed laid.
• Flower beds have been emptied ready for spring planting.
• Oak Grove hedge trimmed.
• Trees have been planted temporarily at the back of the Spinney and will be moved when permanent locations have been identified by the AOS committee.
• Cemetery grass has had its first cut of the year.
• Cemetery benches had been painted.

Resident purchased two reserved burial plots in 2009 and no longer requires them as moving away would the committee agree to accept the graves back and refund the reservation fee. |
The Committee agreed to refund the resident for the two burial plots subject to receiving written confirmation from the resident. |
80. Finances: Omega reports: Review of budget/expenditure/income
The Deputy Clerk had presented a copy of the Omega report to all members prior to the meeting. Cllr Miss Collins asked if there were any questions and there were none.
81. Chair’s Town Hall Report
The Chair reported that the replacement of the front door is work in progress. Cllr Broughton informed the committee that he had tried a number of carpenters but unfortunately was struggling to find someone to do the job. Cllr Ms Reed provided a name of a carpenter who specializes in this type of work. The Deputy Clerk will make enquiries.
The Chair thanked the Clerks for their continued hard work.
82. Chair’s Cemetery Report
The Chair thanked the park keepers for their continued hard work and for covering the extra work of the cemetery keeper until an appointment is made.
83. For members to consider the transfer of £2,500 to the purchase of Cemetery land account
It was noted that the transfer of £2,500 should be £4,500. It was RESOLVED unanimously to transfer £4,500 into the purchase of cemetery land account.
84. For members to consider and discuss any points raised in the Open Session.
There were none.
85. To consider items for inclusion on the agenda for the next meeting of the Town Hall and Cemetery Committee

Cllr Miss Collins thanked everyone for their attendance and closed the meeting at 6.30 pm. The next Town Hall and Cemetery Committee meeting will take place on Wednesday 1 May 2024 at the Town Hall.
