Agenda Item 5

Clerk’s and Park Keeper’s report 15h July 2026

John Eve field

  • Goal posts – One post has started to rot and the second is showing signs of wear.  Initial feelers are being made to see of a utility company would be able to supply replacement poles to use free of charge so that we can update the goal posts – on-going.

BMX Track

  • A report was received in May 2026 by a user of the tack, reporting that electric scooters, radio-controlled cars and small children are using the BMX track, hence presenting a hazard to BMX users.  MDTC will monitor the situation and report back at this meeting, a notice is being drafted to be placed on the BMX track…This BMX track is for BMX users, it prohibits use for radio- controlled cars, electric scooters and small children to play in this area due to Health & Safety concerns.
  • A further incident has been reported in this period of people using electric scooters on the track, this has been reported to the Police and a crime reference number has been obtained.
  • The field is scheduled for a RoSPA inspection in August as well as the BMX Track.

Town Centre

  • Hanging baskets – Were installed in June 2026.

Clerk’s Report

  • Wickstead – Pendulum Swing repairs have been made.
  • New Tractor for the Park Keepers arrived 15/5/26
  • Defib change of location.  Exploring the possibility of locating a defib in the Tattershall Drive area has identified the following; there is no power source, a solution would be to have a wind & solar post for installation and these have an average cost of 3K plus installation cost of circa. £700.  Planning permission may apply as it is likely to be SKDC land.  An alternative solution is for a different location to be identified that would be at less cost.  Members discussed this point at the meeting and agreed to keep searching for a location that has an electric supply.

Cherry Tree Park

  • Water butt/supply – see also agenda item.
  • There has been an act of vandalism with graffiti on the back wall, this has been referred to Lincolnshire Police – on-going.

Charter Avenue Children’s Play Area

  • Perimeter fencing – next steps of possible tendering continue.
  • There are repeated acts of vandalism occurring in the children’s play area, with the new installation of swings primarily being targeted, currently this situation is being monitored.  Councillors discussed this point in the meeting and advised all acts of vandalism to be reported to Lincolnshire Police.

Charter Avenue Allotments

  • The local Explorers assisted with the initial clearing up of the existing Allotment areas and we are thankful for their support.  An email has been sent to them thanking them for their work.
  • Sectional Fencing – Commenced w/c 29/6/26 and has now been completed.
  • There has been an act of vandalism regarding the outer perimeter fence where a section has been damaged, this matter will be reported to Lincolnshire Police and the area will be monitored.
  • Additional support has been received by students from the Deepings School, with continuing to clear the Allotment Area.

Welland Gardens

  • Planter and planting – All completed.
  • New Bench – Update on a gift from the Round Table on-going.
  • Land adjacent to Welland Gardens – No further information at the time of writing this report.

Riverside Park

  • Preparing the area for the Raft Race (2/8/26) and The Boundary Event (August BH)
  • A bench donated by a local family is in need of some maintenance, the family have arranged for work to be completed and are considering changing the bench for one which is made of more durable material (see also correspondence).
  • The out- of- date noticeboard remains a work in progress as we work with other organisation to have the information updated.

Cemetery Driveway

  • Raking – Now performing a ration of 2:1 in favour of the Council.  A rota was set up following a meeting held in May 2026, with a ratio of 2:1, however, we have experienced two heatwaves, and this work is deemed unsafe to perform in high temperatures.

Members:  Clerk recommendation to hire mechanical aids for the raking of the driveway, to assist and aid the Park Keepers.
