Market Deeping Town Council – Amenities and Open Spaces Committee
 
Minutes of a meeting held on Wednesday 11th March 2026 at 6.45 pm held in the Town Hall Chambers, Market Deeping.  Cllr Broughton presided over Cllr Debbie Jones, Cllr Dick Hughes, Cllr Paul Hanson, Cllr Jean Sked and also present was the Clerk.  
 
63.  Chairman’s Welcome and Introductions
Cllr. Broughton extended a very warm welcome to all to the meeting.
 
64.  To note apologies and accept valid reason for Absence
Cllr Jayne Reed, due to work commitments.
 
65.   Declarations of Interest under the Localism Act 2011 
There were no Declarations of Interest. 
 
18.50pm Cllr Jean Sked arrived at the meeting and was welcomed by the Chairman.
 
66.  Minutes of a previous AOS meeting held on the 14th January 2026
It was RESOLVED unanimously to accept the minutes of the meeting as a true and accurate record of the meeting.  The Chairman signed the minutes.   
 
67.  Clerk’s report and update on work of the Park-Keepers
Members had received a copy of the report prior to the meeting.

John Eve field

  • Railings are being refreshed as part of the Winter programme of maintenance

Town Centre

  • Investigations are continuing regarding flooding in the High Street

Clerk’s Report

  • Previously authorised to SKDC was permission for use of the Glene Field for a BMX display event to be held 21/2/26, subject to field conditions.  Assessment week commencing 9/2/26 along with predicted rain-fall for the next 10 days, this event is unable to go ahead and has been rearranged for the 26/9/26.  Email sent to update members  
  • Authorised for expenditure (Town Clerk H&S item required by Park Keepers) Milwaukee 1v 13mm Band-file naked, battery and charger with a cost of £310.80

Cherry Tree Park

  • Nothing new to report

 

Charter Avenue Children’s Play Area

  • A newly installed swing has been extensively vandalised and can no longer be in use.  Contact has been made with the supplier, and a new replacement swing will be installed, estimated lead time 8 weeks

Welland Gardens

  • Land adjacent to Welland Gardens – investigations continue

Riverside Park

Email: x 2 Quotes received regarding the deep cleaning of the Public Toilets.

Members voted and RESOLVED unanimously to have the Public Toilets deep cleaned and chose the lower quote of £1495.00 plus vat and instructed the Clerk to proceed

68.  Omega Reports
Omega reports were circulated ahead of the meeting to all members.  The Chairman asked if there were any questions.  There were none.
 
69.   Allotments: Initial maintenance and repairs of the perimeter fencing, for members to discuss and agree next steps
Members discussed and RESOLVED unanimously for the Clerk to obtain two quotes for the following; a) To provide screening/fencing on existing chain link fence that faces the children’s play area.
b) for the above to be either 5ft or 6ft panels, with concrete posts and mounted on a kickboard.

71. To consider items for inclusion on the agenda for the next meeting of Amenities and Open Spaces committee, to be held in the Town Hall Chambers on Wednesday May 13th 2026 starting at 7.00pm to meet in the Council Chambers, Market Deeping.
