Market Deeping Town Council – Amenities and Open Spaces Committee
 
Minutes of a meeting held on Wednesday 14th January 2026 at 6.45 pm held in the Town Hall Chambers, Market Deeping. 
 
Cllr Broughton presided over Cllr D Jones, Cllr Dick Hughes, Cllr Paul Hanson, Cllr Jayne Reed, and also present was the Clerk.  
 
51.  Chairman’s Welcome and Introductions
Cllr. Broughton extended a very warm welcome to all to the meeting.
 
52.  To note apologies and accept valid reason for Absence
Cllr Jean Sked, due to work commitments.
 
53.   Declarations of Interest under the Localism Act 2011 
There were no Declarations of Interest. 
18.47pm Cllr Jean Sked arrived at the meeting and was welcomed by the Chairman.
 
54.  Minutes of a previous AOS meeting held on the 26th November 2025
It was RESOLVED unanimously to accept the minutes of the meeting as a true and accurate record of the meeting.  The Chairman signed the minutes.   
 
55.  Clerk’s report and update on work of the Park-Keepers
Members had received a copy of the report prior to the meeting.

John Eve field

  • Update on damaged fencing on the John Eve Field (hooped fencing), order currently with the Fabricators with an expected installation start date of January 2026, subject to weather conditions
  • Update on the damage caused to an entry point on the John Eve Field/Oak Grove entrance, hooped fence has been taken away for repairs [Note; This is a separate incident to the previous]
  • Order currently with Fabricators with an expected installation start date January 2026, subject to weather conditions 
  • New You to Me Swing – requirements currently with supplier, expected to meet contract manager on site week commencing 12/1/26 to discuss next steps

Town Centre

  • The Christmas tree will remain in situ for a while longer as the tree remains in good health and condition, for the enjoyment of residents

Clerk’s Report

  • Park Keepers wagon work on replacing discs – In progress wagon to be booked in for work to be completed
  • Cemetery Drive – The gravel driveway requires raking in order to keep the drive in good order.  This task is undertaken by residents and Park Keepers a record will be kept as to the frequency for future reference

Cherry Tree Park

  • Removal of Ash tree 1 ft below hedge height – In process waiting further updates

Charter Avenue Children’s Play Area

  • Future work - Park Keepers will repair existing bench date tba

Charter Avenue Allotments

  • Update on Vandalism; a panel of the wire fence which separates the play area and allotments, repair work has been completed

Welland Gardens

  • Nothing new to report

Riverside Park

  •  Nothing new to report

57.  Omega Reports
The Omega report had been circulated ahead of the meeting.  The Chairman asked members if they had any questions, there were none.
 
58. Update:  Bench to be installed between the Glebe and John Eve Fields.  Clerk’s recommendation is, the next request that is received to the Council to request a memorial bench, that consideration is given to offer this location  
Members discussed and agreed with the above recommendation, with a request that the next enquiry regarding a memorial bench, that the above location be offered, with Cllr Dick Hughes willing to show anyone who does enquire the possible locations for the bench.    
 
59. For members to discuss a quotation for work to chip up pre-cut hedging £180 including VAT, this quote includes man-hours and take away
Members discussed and RESOLVED unanimously to agree the costs and instructed the Clerk to make arrangements.
 
60. Update – AOS Precept 2026/2027
The Chairman asked members if there were any other comments/thoughts they wished to discuss regarding the 2026/2027 Precept, there were none.
 
61. For members to consider and discuss any points raised in the Open session
There were none.
 
62. To consider items for inclusion on the agenda for the next meeting of Amenities and Open Spaces Committee, to be held in the Town Hall Chambers on Wednesday 11th March 2026 at 6.45 pm, meet in the Town Hall Chambers, Market Deeping.
The Clerk was requested to include on the March agenda the following;
- Land adjacent to Welland Gardens
The Chairman thanked members for their attendance, the meeting closed at 6.55pm.
