Market Deeping Town Council - Amenities and Open Spaces Committee

Minutes of a meeting held on Wednesday 12 October 2022 at 7.00pm at the Town Hall, Market Deeping.  Cllr Broughton presided over Cllr Lester, Cllr Mrs Redshaw, Cllr Miss Collins and Cllr Shelton. The Clerk was also in attendance.

A member of the public attended the open session.  The resident requested a gate between the exit of Greenland’s on to Halfleet.  Cllr Broughton said he would request permission from SKDC to place a gate there and build one.

29.   Chairman’s Welcome

Cllr Broughton welcomed members to the meeting at 7.00 pm.  

30.   Apologies for absence 

There were no apologies for absence.

31.   Declarations of Interest under the Localism Act 2011   

There were no declarations of interest.

32.   Minutes of a meeting held on 13th July 2022

It was RESOLVED unanimously to accept the minutes of the meeting as a true and accurate record of the meeting. The Chairman signed the minutes.

33.   Clerk’s Report and update on work of parkkeepers

Members had received a copy of the report prior to the meeting.

John Eve field

  • Dolomite needed for BMX track
  • Rospa report – zip wire and other parts need to be ordered
  • Surfacing repairs, the Clerks need to obtain quotes.

Town centre

  • The hanging baskets are looking tired and will shortly be removed

Clerk’s report

  • Trainee Park keeper. 

An advert will be placed for a trainee in the Advertiser and Job Centre as soon as possible.

  • Public toilets

The park keepers are finding opening the shutters increasingly difficult.

SKDC have provided sundry items requested promptly and have repaired the soap dispenser in the ladies’ toilets.

35.   Omega reports: Review of performance to date, budget/expenditure/income

The Clerk had provided members with a report prior to the meeting. Cllr Broughton asked members if there were any comments on the Omega report, and there were none.

36. For members to advise re purchase of berberis, pyracanthas and thistles on Glebe Field.

Cllr Broughton will measure the length required and advise the Clerk what to buy.

37. For members to consider the acquisition of a duck nesting box for the pond

It was RESOLVED to purchase a floating base for a duck box and that Cllr Broughton would build the nesting box.

38.  For members to consider how to allocate £10,000 to EMRs.

It was RESOLVED that the £10,000 should be transferred to AOS supplies EMR 344

39. For members to consider purchasing an electric shutter door for the public toilets

It was RESOLVED that the Clerks would obtain permission from SKDC and 3 quotes.

40. For members to consider and discuss any points raised in the Open Session

There were none.

41. To consider items for inclusion on the agenda for the next meeting of Amenities and Open spaces committee, to be held at Town Hall Chambers on Wednesday 9 November 2022 at 7:00pm.

There being no other business, Cllr Broughton thanked everybody for their attendance and closed the meeting at 7.30 pm.
