TOWN HALL AND CEMETERY COMMITTEE
Minutes of the meeting of Market Deeping Town Council’s Town Hall and Cemetery Committee held on Wednesday 5 November 2025 at 6.15 pm at Market Deeping Town Council, Market Deeping. Cllr Paul Hanson presided over Cllr Mrs Jones and Cllr Mrs Sked. The Deputy Clerk was also in attendance.
1. Chair’s Welcome
Cllr Hanson welcomed members to the meeting.
2. Apologies for absence
There were no apologies for absence.
3. To receive declarations of interest under the Localism Act 2011
There were no declarations of interest.
4. Minutes from the meeting held on Wednesday 6 November 2024
It was RESOLVED with two in favour and one abstention to accept the minutes of the previous meeting as a true and accurate record. The Chair signed the minutes.
5. Clerk’s report
The Deputy Clerk informed the members of the following:

Since the last meeting on 6 November 2024 there had been 10 interments of cremated remains, 3 scatterings and 11 burials. |

In February 2025 the fire extinguishers located at the Town Hall and Park-keepers shed were inspected and no faults were found. |

PAT testing was carried out in the Town Hall and Park-keeper shed in October 2025 and no faults were found. |

The kitchen at the Town Hall is due to be replaced at the end of November. This was agreed at Full Council on 8 October 2025. |
Cllr Mrs Jones requested that following the completion of the kitchen that a new undercounter fridge is purchased. It was RESOLVED unanimously to purchase a fridge on completion of the kitchen. |
Cllr Mrs Sked asked if the committee would consider replacing the Town Hall curtains. It was agreed to obtain three quotes from local suppliers.
Cllr Mrs Jones suggested that it would be useful to try and engage with youngsters and encourage them to consider becoming a councillor, it would also be an opportunity to showcase the Town Hall.
6. Update on work activity taking place in the cemeteries (old & new)

Resident concerned about the excessive memorabilia in the flat plaque area of the cemetery. |
Signs have been placed in the cemetery to remind visitors of the cemetery policy with regards to excessive memorabilia. The area is now looking a lot tidier. |
8. Finances: Omega reports: Review of budget/expenditure/income
The Deputy Clerk had presented a copy of the Omega report to all members prior to the meeting. Cllr Hanson asked
if there were any questions and there were none.
9. For members to consider the Precept for 2026/2027
It was RESOLVED unanimously to accept the Precept for 2026/2027 as outlined below: -
